PhotographerWeb Designer & Developer

I am a multimedia professional with a passion for photography, design, web 2.0/social media and all things dealing with the media and the internet. I love sharing information that enriches and informs the individual; and I'm looking to utilize my talent in photojournalism, writing, social media, video production, and web design & development to present that information in a well designed, engaging way. This portfolio is a work in progress.

Web Design and Development: Class Project at IIT

Chicago Brewpub Cafe

One of the first projects we did in the CCT Web Design and Development class was to create our own website. This is the initial sketch, wireframe and mockups I submitted for the project. Along with my 2 other team members we then went on to work on the content and coding the HTML and CSS of the site.

Event Photography: Black Wings Exhibit

American Dreams of Flight

The Black Wings American Dreams of Flight exhibit recently opened at the DuSable Museum with a VIP Reception. The exhibit charts the groundbreaking, history-making, and patriotic paths of some very valiant men and women - from Bessie Coleman securing a pilot’s license, through the Tuskegee Airmen and the integration of our armed forces, to Guy Bluford in space.

The show covers significant figures, events, and themes associated with African Americans in aviation and aerospace history, using the Tuskegee Airmen as a jumping off point to tell the untold story of African American aviation in the last 65 years.

Web Development:Lawyers Lend-A-Hand

The non-profit organization where I served my internship has a website (top right) that was in need of an update including: simpler navigation, a streamlined donation process, easier access to grant information, in addition to information on Lend-A-Hand's supporters, what Lend-A-Hand does, who they support and an updated CMS (Wordpress). I submitted the wireframe (bottom right) and mock-up on the left as part of the ideation and redesign process.

The Journey: The Next 100 Years

Project, Exhibit and Book

"The Journey" was a year long project documenting life and events in Chicago's African American community at the turn of the century. I was one of 50 photographers whose images captured religious observances, the arts, families, young and old people and community events.

The exhibit, consisting of 180 16x20 silver gelatin black and white prints, opened concurrently at the historical South Side Community Arts Center and at a black tie gala at the Museum of Contemporary Arts in February of 2001. The work has since toured the Chicago area at various venues and is now archived at the Chicago History Museum.
